Tacoma police search for McDonald's kidnapper

A failed kidnapping in Tacoma ended with a woman in intensive care as police search for her attacker.

It happened early Friday morning as the victim walked home from her overnight shift at a Pacific Avenue McDonald's when she was hit by the suspect's vehicle.

After the man struck the victim, he grabbed the woman and tried pulling her into his pickup truck. The struggle caught the attention of a man walking nearby, and the suspect fled the scene leaving the woman behind.

The suspect's co-workers say it's not the first time McDonald's workers have been targeted in the area.

"I've been harassed, people try to get me in the car and [I] had to be on the phone with the police the whole day or they'd come take me to work," a McDonald's co-worker told King-TV on Saturday.

The victim is in the hospital with severe injuries, which include a broken collar bone, leg and back.

Police are looking for a dark-skinned man in his late 20s. He's about six-feet tall and has short curly hair. He was driving a dark blue Chevy pickup truck with a broken back window. The license plate possibly ended with the number "10" and the letter "N".

I just had to : *warnning hill top* Police are looking for a dark-skinned man in his late 20s. He's about six-feet tall and has short curly hair. He was driving a dark blue broken down Chevy pickup truck with a broken back window. The license plate possibly "EAT-ME". Might answer to the name of Ronald. Now time to leave Ha ha's world - The victim is in the hospital with severe injuries, which include a broken collar bone, leg and back. Thinking its more than a kidnapping?

    seriously
the headline should be about a pedestrian hit and run with attempted kidnapping .. since that's what is reported. Why is there focus about where she works? The focus should be about the plan of attack to kidnap her.

    I get burgers there.
It's an awful location. There are always weirdos in the parking lot and losers loitering at the bus stop. And the liquor store across the street is always swarming with hustlers and drug dealers. Why the cops don't clean it up is beyond me.

    The suspect's co-workers? Should that read the victim's co-workers?

The cops are afraid they will get a complaint for doing anything to clean up a crime ridden neighborhood and end up on the KOMO 4 news investigators. It seems that when you go after folks like this they tend to fight and that leads to a use of force that unacceptable in our state no matter how justified...

I respectfully disagree. The cops around here can no longer do anything without being tossed under the bus and investigated for wrong doing. I agree with you there are some dumb___ cops around here who have done some dumb things and should be held fully accountable. I do not think that all or most cops are bad and it is a small fraction who screw it up for the cops who work hard and for the right reasons. It has finally come down to don't do anything other then respond to in-progress calls because of the fear of being a proactive cops is just going to get you in trouble with all the bleeding hearts around here who will not stop until they have their head on a stick.

    Besides
The 9th Circut and the Superior Courts here have already made it impossible to arrest or charge suspects with crime. If someone steals your car and reports it stolen the court will not allow charges to be filed unless you can prove the person driving it actually stole it and you can't charge possession of a stolen vehicle because the suspect driving may not know it was stolen. How much sense does that make, if the owner of the car does not know them and did not give them permission to take or be in possession of their car sounds like a good case to me. The court believes in the "I did not know it was stolen excuse" given by the suspect. My friend (who they only know as Bill or Jim etc...) gave it to me; I had no idea it was stolen. The same thing goes will all stolen property and theft cases and nothing ever gets done because courts here protect the criminal way too much and don't allow a jury to hear the actual evidence or make the decisions, they dismiss the case at 1st appearance. Happens all the time.
