Five hospitalized after propane tank explodes in Edmonds

An explosion at a water treatment plant in Edmonds sent five people to the hospital on Thursday.

Snohomish County Fire says workers were loading a 1,000 gallon propane tank onto a truck, when a valve was sheered off.
"The truck driver realized what had happened, told everybody to get away, and then the explosion occurred," Leslie Hynes with Snohomish County Fire tells KING 5.
Hynes says the fire spread to two nearby buildings and also started a small brush fire but crews were able to eventually contain the flames.
KING 5 reports one worker remains in critical conditions, while three others are still hospitalized in satisfactory condition.
