Motorcyclist gets ticket for dog riding on back

State troopers cited a motorcyclist who took his dog for a cruise on Monday.

The trooper noticed the pair while driving on Highway 3 in Kitsap County. The dog spent miles balancing on the back of the bike with no harness.

According to the trooper's Twitter account, the driver got a ticket and the dog received a "verbal warning." The trooper said the stunt is not only unsafe, but illegal.

    Wonder what RCW they put on that ticket? Was it a moving violation, equipment violation, or something else. Also, dogs have been riding on motorcycles for ages and actually survive a wreck much better then the owners. Not that long up near Smokey Point a DOT truck and a rider collided and kill him, however the dog was found alive in the medium and mostly uninjured as I recall.

Listen stupid the chances are the dog will not be involved in a accident the dog will fall off the M/C.And how does someone or a dog get "mostly uninjured"?Oh I guess if you received injuries to 49% of your body you might just meet that classification .Right?

    Its everyone else on the road around him that is is danger. I could care less about the one dog. When that animal falls off the back causing an accident or chain of accidents with the vehicles behind and around him, that is the real danger.

Morons like this who endanger helpless animals should be ticketed and worse, if you ask me. What a jacka55 this guy is. And you're right, though -- other certainly COULD get injured if the dog fell off the bike.

    Carrying a dog in a dog carrier while strapped to the roof rack of a car is perfectly legal in Washington State. And is a heck of a lot safer than letting a dog ride loose in the back of a pickup or riding on the lap of the driver.

    Personally, I kennel my dog for most vacations. But I guess the Romney family loved their dog so much they wanted to take it on vacation with them.
