Two teens shot outside Shoreline apartment complex

The King County Sheriff's office is investigating a fatal shooting in Shoreline.

A 17-year-old girl and her 18-year-old boyfriend were outside the Maplewood Court Apartments on NW Richmond Beach Road when multiple shots were fired. The couple was able to get into their car and drive away.

King County sheriff's sergeant Stan Seo said the two tried to make it to the Shoreline Police station, but they were stopped by officers at 185th and Aurora.

"We're trying to piece it all together based on the vague explanation of what the victims told us," he said. "All they basically said was they got shot."

Sergeant Seo said detectives still don't have a good description of the suspect. He said they don't know what sparked the argument that ended in gunfire.

The 17-year-old girl, a Shorecrest High School student, died after arriving at Harborview Medical Center. Her boyfriend, a Shorewood High School student, survived surgery but is in critical condition.

Deputy Travis DeFries says investigators don't know if the teens were targeted or if it was a random shooting. He says shootings are rare in the Richmond Beach neighborhood.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

    girl fatally shot
Why did the police stop them? Could the girl have survived if she'd gotten to the hospital earlier?

If they were driving to the police station she may have gotten to the hospital faster by being stopped.

The victims called police and were driving to the station when the cops found them and intercepted them. It wasn't shady. They were doing the best they could.

Don't be stupid... I am guessing there is plenty of leads to follow here and the Sheriff's Detectives will have this solved quickly like the last one up there a week or two ago.
