Boy, 5, hailed as hero for dialing 911, saving dad
on July 10, 2012 @ 8:45 am (Updated: 2:00 pm - 7/10/12 )Quincy Hall is only 5-years-old. Still, he knows exactly what to do in case of an emergency: "Call the doctor," also known as dialing 911.
That's exactly what Quincy did when his father had a seizure in June, according to KING 5.
Quincy is being hailed as a hero because he knew to dial 911. The dispatcher, Ellen Mauerman, said when she answered the phone, her first instinct was to think that a kid was calling because he had just learned how.
As Mauerman started to take the boys information, she heard him say, "It's okay dad, I called the doctor." She knew it was serious.
By looking up cell phone records and getting GPS coordinates, the dispatchers discovered the Halls' address in Chehalis.
In the worst case scenario, Trish Teigen, Quincy's mom, said that his dad could have died. Instead, he's recovering - and that makes Quincy a hero.
