Police are trying to track down two pit bulls that
attacked a toddler and elderly woman in South Seattle
Thursday night.
A mom and her two daughters had just left a church in the
5500 block of 17th Avenue South and were
walking to their car when they spotted the two dogs
running loose.
As the ladies were trying to get away from the pit bulls
and into the car, one pit bull jumped up and bit the 3-
year-old on the face. The second dog bit the girl on the
head, leaving two puncture wounds.
Seattle Police Detective Jeff Kappel said a group of men
chased the dogs away. They took off westbound
on W. Lucile St.
About a block over, the dogs attacked a 74-year-old woman,
knocking her to the ground.
“Thankfully she wasn’t bitten, but as she was knocked to
the ground, she hit her head on the pavement and also
injured her hand,” said Kappel.
Seattle Fire medics took both victims to Harborview
Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Kappel said officers conducted an extensive search in the
area, but weren’t able to find the two pit bulls.
The first dog is described as a full size pit bull with a
white body and black patches on its face and wearing a
collar. The second dog is described as a full size pit
bull, all
black with a couple of white patches on its face and
wearing a blue collar.
Animal Control is investigating the incident. Anyone with
information about the incident or location of the dogs is
urged to call Animal Control at 206-386-7387 and press 7.
