Pitbulls on Parade this weekend in Issaquah

Issaquah's Bullseye Dog Rescue is hosting a special event to promote appreciation and understanding of Pit Bulls on Saturday, called Pit Bulls on Parade.

The event, which runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. August 25, will be held at Riverdog Canine Coaching in Issaquah. Organizers have planned a variety of activities, including dog competition events like weight pull, flyball, and agility challenges to showcase the pit bull breed's special abilities.

The event will also host a raffle, a hot dog stand to raise funds for the dogs, and pet accessory vendors. Volunteers will be on hand with special deals on pet healthcare for dogs of all breeds, offering discounted pet micro-chipping at the event.

The day will end with a parade of adoptable pit bulls and pit bull mixes from around the area.

Bullseye Dog Rescue, which organizes the annual event, hopes that seeing friendly pit bulls in action will help to lessen the stigma of danger and unpredictability that the animals carry. Part of the event will involve free and discounted Canine Good Citizen testing, which is a national certification offered by the American Kennel club to reward pets' manners.

The organization hopes that the event will help to adopt out as many rescue animals as they can.

    Ban Pitbulls!!!
Most pit bull owners fail to discipline and train their potentially dangerous aggressive dogs. I find that I am the one suffering the consequences for their neglect. The animal shelter in Kent is flooded with these dogs because people get them because they think it makes them LOOK COOL and they are notorious for being DANGEROUS!!!! If you really want a dog wait for the right mutt you can CONTROL and train to come along at the shelter. Adopting pit bulls out at a parade seems to me like a terrible decision. Not to mention most renters WONT rent to you if you have one because of how destructive they can be.

    Pocket dog..
Pitbulls ARE loyal, loving etc etc...to the point of killing whatever is in front of them that gets in the way of that. Including people, other dogs, kitty cats..whatever. People who own them use them for the ego boost. If a Pit Bull could be put in a shoulder holster, they'd do it.
