Paul Ryan paints sunny outlook for America

Cheer up!

If this week’s news has found you going through the last of your Ibuprofen, let me take you to the one oasis of calm in Washington, the one place where the reporters are polite and all the news is above average, the weekly briefing of House Speaker Paul Ryan.

“I don’t know how many of you were around at the end of the 1960s, that’s the last time the number of Americans filing for unemployment benefits was this low,” Ryan said.

At the speaker’s briefing, there is no talk of what Brett Kavanaugh said other judges were saying about Roe vs Wade 15 years ago, no one shouting about impeachment.

It’s like listening to one of those anti-stress recordings of surf and seagulls.

“Tax reform is working,” Ryan said. “Families are better off. Business are hiring. Businesses are expanding. Manufacturing is booming.”

Make no mistake, there are still big problems. The biggest being that there are now too many jobs.

“We still have millions of jobs that are unfilled,” Ryan said. “That story is playing out across the country where businesses are trying to find workers with the right skills. That’s why we just recently overhauled our career technical education system, so it’s easier to match people with the training that they need.

Which means if you don’t like what you’re doing, your dream job is out there right now! So, Mr. Anonymous, what are you waiting for?

Ross: Are we killing car culture? Or is car culture killing the US?
