Pierce County Sheriff’s deputies have faced a lot of challenges from frequently appearing on COPS, to fighting crime. They recently tackled one of their fiercest tests — a dance off challenge.

“All summer long there have been many many lip sync challenge videos going around social media,” said Ed Troyer with the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office. “Much to our disappoint, no other law enforcement agencies called us out for a battle, but we did get called out by someone else.”
“Someone else” turned out to be a squad of girls, as featured in a video from the sheriff’s office showing a dance-off challenge between the two groups. Also featured in the video are three boys — sons of the late Deputy Dan McCartney who died in the line of duty January 2018.
The dance off took place at Cheney Stadium in Tacoma. Deputies could not keep up with the dancers — which, frankly, is the polite way to put it. A lip sync performance concludes the video.
After the Norfolk Police Department’s lip sync video went viral, the Seattle Police Department was challenged to perform. Officers did a rendition of Macklemore’s “Downtown.” Other agencies across Washington have filmed their own lip sync challenges.
The Renton Police Department recently did their own spin on the challenge. They teamed up with the fire department in an homage to “Dirty Dancing.”
