WSP patrol car stolen after chase, found crashed in Renton

Sep 24, 2018, 9:38 AM

The Washington State Patrol said it’s searching for a suspect who stole one of their patrol cars and crashed it on Monster Road in Renton following a pursuit early Monday morning.

WSP said a trooper stopped a car around 2:30 a.m. that initially pulled over then peeled off.

The trooper pursued the car that took the NB I-5 exit to SR 516, according to WSP spokesperson Trooper Rick Johnson, who said the suspects rolled and crashed on the ramp.

Investigators believe one of the chase suspects stole the cruiser, but can’t say yet whether all three of the outstanding suspects jumped in.

WSP used GPS to track their stolen patrol car that was found crashed along Monster Road near SW Grady Way in Renton with its flashers still on.

A K-9 searched the area but didn’t find any of the suspects.

WSP told KIRO 7 nothing was stolen from their patrol car.
