While the most recent stretch of weather — 11 days — is cooler than normal for September, it’s the sixth straight warmer than usual month.

RELATED: Drier, warmer weather expected this winter across Pacific Northwest

KIRO 7 Meteorologist Morgan Palmer, who is responsible for the measurement, says the highs and lows expected for the remainder of the month will “keep the streak alive.”

April was one degree warmer, May and July were five degrees warmer than usual, June was 1.7 degrees warmer, and August was 2.7 degrees warmer than usual, according to Palmer.

And while the weather may fluctuate across the region, the National Weather Service says fall and winter will also be warm and dry, due to El Nino. Normal precipitation will return in January.

NOAA reports that the “sea surface temperatures at the equator were warmer than average in much of the tropical Pacific in August 2018,” which is one of the criteria for El Nino.
