A Pierce County board meeting became overly heated when a member hurled a profanity at the panel’s vice chairman, who happens to be her son.
The Tacoma News Tribune reports that Pierce County Councilwoman Pam Roach directed an “F-bomb” at Dan Roach as he sought to limit an increasingly heated argument among members during an Oct. 5 budget discussion.
It all started when Pam Roach raised questions about a crisis stabilization center, according to the Tribune. The facility, already slated for construction near Franklin Pierce High School, will provide immediate assistance to people in mental health crises.
Pam Roach, a former Washington state senator, a longtime Republican official and Dan Roach’s mother, abruptly left the meeting.
Dan Roach couldn’t immediately be reached for comment. His mother said in a statement that she “got very passionate” and regretted using “harsh words” in the public forum.
She also said she loves her son, a fellow Republican, though they sometimes have political disagreements.
It’s certainly not the first time Pam Roach has stirred the pot during a council meeting. She and Councilmember Rick Talbert were caught on video in Nov. 21 causing a ruckus.
