Rain and potential snow for Thanksgiving weekend travel

Travelers over the extended Thanksgiving holiday weekend should be prepared for chilly weather that will include rain and the potential for snow on the road in some areas of Washington.
Wednesday will offer some light rain around Western Washington, according to KIRO 7’s meteorologist Nick Allard.
“Some rain for Thanksgiving Day and some rain for Friday,” Allard said.
But as things chill out around the state, there will be a few places to watch for potential snow. That will especially be relevant for drivers heading over the mountain passes.
“By Thursday (snow levels) are going to fall down to around 3,500 feet, by Friday, it’s going to fall to about 3,000 feet, and you’re going to even be around 2,500 at times on Friday,” Allard said. “And it holds that way for the weekend.”
“The point is, while I don’t see anything crazy, you will be talking about snow for Snoqualmie Pass,” he said. “And also temperatures will only top out to the low to mid 40s in Pullman, so I’m thinking by the evening, with a few showers pushing in, there could be some wet snow mixed in and it will be a little breezy.”
That means travelers going to-and-from the Apple Cup in Pullman on Friday should be extra attentive to road conditions. The event should draw a significant crowd as Husky and Cougar fans flock to Eastern Washington from all around the state. Those roads will be chilly.
