Looking to hit the slopes over the Thanksgiving holiday? Crystal Mountain will likely be the place to go. As for the rest, here’s what you can expect in the coming weeks.
Crystal Mountain
Despite a dry winter, Crystal Mountain has managed to make due. “Tremendous snow making efforts” have made it so the Discovery and Chinook express lifts will open on Friday, Nov. 23, all the way through Sunday, Nov. 25. Additionally, the first 50 people in line at Chinook Express on Friday get a $5 food voucher for the Bullwheel starting at 2 p.m.
Crystal Mountain invested $3 million into snowmaking abilities, adding 22 new snow guns.
“All we want is more powder, so the more snow we can get the better,” Brianna Stoutenburgh, Crystal Mountain marketing and events coordinator, told KIRO 7.
KIRO 7 meteorologists projected an El Nino year, which could mean a warmer and drier winter and a lower snow pack.
Mount Baker
When will Mount Baker open up its slopes? According to its official website, “whenever we have enough snow to do so.” It would apparently take between 20 and 40 inches of snowbase for the resort to open. The hope is that could happen “as early as next week.” Forecasts for the weekend call for 15 to 18 inches of new snow in the area.
Stevens Pass
Stevens Pass doesn’t have much in the way of information, only just now beginning to record weather conditions for the mountain. Weather forecasts for the area now predict 15 to 20 inches of snow over the weekend. There’s still no opening date set, though, according to the resort’s Twitter account:
Snowing right now and there's more in the forecast: BRING IT ON! Still no opening date set yet, but hopefully these storms get us well on our way! Keep thinking snow! #stevenspass pic.twitter.com/8qHoG34628

The deadline for a season pass for Stevens is Dec. 2, so if you plan on getting in on that action, be sure to plan accordingly before time runs out.
Snoqualmie Pass
The forecast at Snoqualmie Pass for the week calls mostly for rain, with a 20 percent chance of snow on Saturday. More rain will follow next week, so the chances of getting on the slopes at Snoqualmie in the next week or two don’t seem great. Currently, The Summit resort at Snoqualmie has approximately three inches of snow.
That said, weather in the Northwest is nothing if not unpredictable — you can keep an eye on things yourself through the ski resort’s web cams to monitor any sudden changes snowfall. For what it’s worth, The Summit resort’s official website says that it’s “maintaining the possibility of snow through the weekend,” so take that for what you will.
