The City of Seattle agreed to settle a lawsuit brought by Jeff Simpson against them and former mayor Ed Murray.

The lawsuit filed by Simpson, Murray’s former foster son, was originally for $1 million, but was settled by the city Monday for $75,000.
Simpson’s lawsuit alleged that the city failed in investigating claims of sexual abuse against him and three other men by Murray in the 1980s.
“This negotiated agreement allowed us to avoid the uncertainty and expense of trial, which helps limit further financial exposure of the taxpayer. I wish Mr. Simpson nothing but the best, and I hope this settlement allows him to move forward,” said Seattle City Attorney Pete Holmes in a news release.
In January, the city settled a separate lawsuit filed by another accuser, Delvonn Heckard for $150,000. Heckard passed away a month later following an accidental drug overdose.
Heckard’s attorney, Lincoln Beauregard, will join KTTH’s Jason Rantz at 7 a.m. Tuesday.
