Pa. school asks students to cut back on body spray

BETHLEHEM, Pa. (AP) - A Pennsylvania high school wants its students to cut back on the body spray.

Freedom High School in Bethlehem says one of its students was recently taken to a hospital after being exposed to Axe Body Spray. Now, officials are asking students to stop using it as a cologne or fragrance while attending the school.

Unilever, which makes Axe, says it is looking into the report. The company says in a statement that the safety and well-being of users "is always our first priority" and consumers with concerns should call the toll-free number on the back of the package.

School officials say the affected student is severely allergic to the spray. It wasn't immediately clear what type of reaction the student had or what chemical may have been involved.

    I feel the kid's pain
I am extremely sensitive to most chemical smells, including cologne, perfume, scented candles, air fresheners, household cleaners, detergents, and room sprays. If I smell anything more than the tiniest amount of these common products, I will cough until I throw up, and it becomes very difficult to breathe. I've even blacked out walking by a Yankee Candle store before. It sucks that most people don't realize how many people these things affect. Maybe if they did, they wouldn't stick those nasty cinnamon pinecones at the front doors of grocery stores around Christmas.

are they wearing the spray to cover up cigarette and weed smell?
or to attract the girls? or to light themselves on fire during lunch...(that's what they do at my kids school...)i am super sensitive to fragrances...they actually trigger bronchial spasms in me....so while kids can't take peanut butter sandwiches to school i guess it's perfectly acceptable to trigger people's asthma....i guess breathing isn't a concern but peanut allergy's are. Hey all you fragrance wearers....please don't douse yourselves....it leaves us weaklings in breathing spasms....
