Hundreds of employees received an email Sunday night, telling them not to come to work the following morning. The email, obtained by Eater Seattle, stated that the company is going out of business because of “unexpected financial and other circumstances.”

Eater also reported employees had to meet at local Starbucks stores near the restaurants to get their last checks, leading some to believe that it didn’t even have access to its own facilities.

Blue C Sushi was in business for 15 years serving up conveyor belt-style Japanese food. Eater’s report estimates that the closure could affect hundreds of employees, across all seven of Blue C’s locations. Boom, owned by the same company, closed its doors in 2016.

Blue C Sushi operated five locations in the Seattle area, including Bellevue, Renton, Tukwila, Lynnwood, and two in Seattle.
