I think I now understand how the border wall issue is going to be settled. First of all, the wall is going to get built.

“I will get it built,” Trump said last night.

And it is going to be the exact beautiful very high concrete border wall that was promised from the beginning, and it is going to look like this.

“This is a smart, strategic, see-through, steel barrier, not just a simple concrete wall,” he said.

Which is very similar to the smart wall Nancy Pelosi described to the San Francisco Chronicle.

“The technology now exists that is non-intrusive scanning of cars and trucks that come through, they don’t even have to stop for guns, for drugs,” Pelosi said. “It’s like an electronic dog.”

And you might say, “Dave, none of this sounds like concrete to me.” Of course not. Because we’ve been looking at this issue all wrong.

Yes, the definition seems to have evolved. But no matter what physical form it takes, a solid wall, steel slats, high-tech surveillance, or a wall-barrier-smart-fence, it is absolutely a concrete wall, as opposed to an abstract wall. We have been defining concrete as a noun, when in fact it works much better as an adjective. Shutdown averted.

I am here to serve.

Ross: Are we killing car culture? Or is car culture killing the US?

I don’t think the question is whether we're going to "kill" our car culture. The real question is can we stop our car culture from killing the U.S.?
