CWU reports all-clear following active shooter warning on campus

There were reports of an active shooter at Central Washington University in the area of Lind Hall on the school’s Ellensburg campus Wednesday evening.

A text was sent out from the university’s alert system warning at 5:35 p.m. warning of the reported shooter.

“I know that all of our buildings are locked, everybody that was in our student union building is locked inside,” said student Mariah Valles at the time of the alert. Valles is the Editor-in-Chief of the university’s paper, The Observer.

Police were on scene responding.

There were no confirmed reports of gunshots or injuries.

At 7:10 p.m., the school reported that all buildings were secured and that the campus is “safe and all-clear.”
