TSA, wall...

Over the weekend I read the compromise wall bill. It’s over a thousand pages, but it turns out the part about the wall was only three pages long. And it actually never mentions a wall.

Instead, it authorizes “pedestrian fencing.”

But I also ran across at least two other provisions in this bill I think everyone can agree with. Such as cheap drugs from Canada. On page 16, it states that, provided you buy no more than a 90-day supply for your own use, U.S. Customs inspectors may not stop you from bringing in prescription drugs from Canada. This has been a gray area, but now with the new law, if you’re tired of waiting for cheaper drugs here, a little Canadian vacation every three months could pay for itself.

And then there’s this little provision, which is my favorite — A year ago the Washington Post reported that congressional leaders like the speaker of the House, and the Senate majority leader could just skip the TSA checkpoints when they fly commercially.

But on page 19, the wall bill states that every member of Congress, including the leadership and cabinet secretaries, and senior members of the Executive Office of the President “shall not be exempt from federal passenger and baggage screening.”

And thus are the mighty brought to heel by the will of the people! Off with their shoes!

Ross: Are we killing car culture? Or is car culture killing the US?

I don’t think the question is whether we're going to "kill" our car culture. The real question is can we stop our car culture from killing the U.S.?

Ross: As cars release driving data to insurance, is your driving my business?

Every move you make, every swerve you take, every lane change you fake – someone’s watching you. Do drivers have a right to keep driving data private?

Ross: Rent control was never the answer in Wash.

The rent control bill died in the Washington State Legislature this week, even though Democrats control both houses.

The theme from Jack Posobiec's speech is that Jan. 6 was a righteous attack not on democracy, but on those who threaten democracy.

The NFL once again put on a show that was able to keep me tuned in for four hours even though I had no stake in either team.
