A 19-year-old burglary suspect died after driving away from a traffic stop early Tuesday morning in Parkland.
Pierce County Detective Ed Troyer said the man was suspected of burglarizing a coffee stand at 139th and Pacific Avenue. A witness got a description of the car, and deputy tried to pull him over.
“The driver immediately fled, probably got the vehicle up to 90 to 100 miles an hour, and within a minute or so left the roadway, hit a telephone pole, ejected himself from the car, and he’s dead here at the scene,” Troyer said. “The car landed in a car lot.”
The flying car hit and damaged several cars in the Chevy dealership before coming to a stop.
The driver was not wearing a seat belt.
