Emergency crews are responding to the scene of a fatal collision on westbound I-90 involving a bus and a car.

The collision occurred on westbound I-90, just east of Highway 18 near the Snoqualmie area, around 5:45 a.m. Friday. Initial reports indicated that the collision involved a King County Metro bus, but Washington State Patrol has clarified that a Metro bus was not involved.

Two right lanes of the freeway were blocked. All lanes opened by 9:56 a.m.

KIRO 7 reports that a male driver in the car died at the scene. A female passenger is injured with non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Overlake Hospital.

The bus driver was the only person on the bus and she had no injuries.

Washington State Patrol reports that a Subaru Legacy was stopped, or slowing, when it was hit by the bus. The bus driver hit the brakes when they saw the car’s brake lights, but was unable to avoid colliding with the car. The bus is a new vehicle that was being delivered to Vancouver, Wash. from Minnesota.

KIRO 7 reports that officials with the Washington State Department of Transportation plan to be at the scene for several hours to investigate the incident.
