There are a number of new residents at the Woodland Park Zoo preparing to make their debut.

One brand new member of the zoo family is a 7-year-old Asian small-clawed otter. He’s the first of his kind to be able to call WPZ home.

Once “phase one” of the Asian tropical forest exhibit complex opens to public in May, the otter, and a 3-year-old female otter friend, will get to meet zoo fans.

These otters will spend more time on land compared to the zoo’s river otters.

This year may also be a good year for those that have already fallen in love with the zoo’s stars of social media: the lion cubs.

The lion cubs are growing up under the care of zoo staff and are staying close to mom. Recently the cubs growled as they underwent an adorable medical check up.

The two boys and two girls have been hanging out in an off-view maternity den but the zoo says the cubs will likely make their debut this spring.
