Oso mudslide: Ways to help

All across Western Washington, groups and individuals are doing all they can to help the victims of the Oso mudslide. (Please donate wisely. The Secretary of State Office warns that scam artists will pose as charity operations.)

Donate Money

Red Cross: You can donate to the Red Cross, any amount is helpful. Call 1-800-RedCross or donate online. You can also text the words RedCross to 90999 and $10 will be charged to your cell phone bill. Red Cross of Snohomish County is also taking donations online.

Catholic Community Services: Catholic Community Services of Western Washington is now accepting donations that will be forwarded to Rev. Timothy J. Sauer, Pastor at St. John Vianney Church (Darrington) and Immaculate Conception Church (Arlington). These parishes will be reaching out to and assisting people in the Oso community in a variety of ways, including helping to defray funeral costs for loved ones. Cascade Valley Hospital Foundation: The Cascade Valley Hospital Foundation is taking cash and check donations. You can donate online or by phone at 360-435-2133, ext. 7805. You can drop off or mail donations to 330 S. Stillaguamish Ave. in Arlington.

The Coastal Community Bank: The Coastal Community Bank is accepting donations for victims via the Darrington Recreation & Education Fund and American Red Cross at all locations: Darrington, Camano Island, Everett, Monroe, Stanwood, Sultan, Silver Lake, Smokey Point, Snohomish and Whidbey Island.

United Way: Learn how to donate at www.uwsc.org. Checks can be sent to United Way of Snohomish County, Attn: Finance Dept., 3120 McDougall Ave., Ste. 200, Everett, WA 98201.

Salvation Army: The Salvation Army is collecting donations. Donate by phone at 800-725-2769, online at www.salvationarmynw.org or by mail to the Salvation Army, Northwest Divisional Headquarters, 111 Queen Anne Avenue N. #300, Seattle, WA, 98109. Designate your gift as “Disaster Relief.”

Animal Rescue Foundation: If you would like to make a monetary donation to help the animals affected by the Oso landslide please go to www.everettarf.org.
