Massive fire guts 10,000-square-foot Ohio mansionJanuary 11, 2014 @ 10:49 am
INDIAN HILL, Ohio (AP) - A massive fire in a Cincinnati suburb has destroyed a 10,000-square-foot mansion, leaving behind only a charred frame.
Lt. Jim Gilligan of the Madeira and Indian Hill Joint Fire District tells The Cincinnati Enquirer ( http://bit.ly/19iSEzh) it took firefighters about seven hours to extinguish the blaze, which was reported Friday afternoon in Indian Hill.
No one was injured, but Gilligan says the 22-room mansion was a complete loss.
The Hamilton County auditor's website shows the home's market value at more than $4 million. The family who owns the mansion wasn't home when the blaze erupted, with flames stretching more than 30 feet.
Gilligan says a fire hydrant at the home didn't provide enough water to put out a fire of that magnitude.
Firefighters are investigating the cause of the blaze.
