PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities have searched a landfill south of Phoenix for one month now without finding a missing girl's remains.

The Arizona Republic ( http://bit.ly/zF1Lr0) says police from the Phoenix suburb of Glendale and other area agencies have combed through about 1,500 tons of trash at the Butterfield Station Landfill in Mobile.

That's about one quarter of the 6,000 tons police aim to sift through in hopes of finding the remains of 5-year-old Jhessye Shockley of Glendale.

Police believe the girl's body was disposed of days before her mother reported her missing Oct. 11 and the mother still is the focus of their case.

The landfill search began Feb. 6.

Cadaver dogs from the Maricopa County sheriff's posse and a new group of officers _ many of them from Phoenix _ will begin assisting with the search next week.
