EVERETT, Wash. (AP) - Officials say emergency crews have rescued a worker who was temporarily trapped beneath the tires of a Boeing 787 jetliner at an Everett, Wash., airfield.
Paine Field Airport Director Dave Waggoner tells KOMO-TV that the Japan Airlines plane was being towed Friday evening when a member of a Boeing ground crew was run over.
A helicopter transported the man to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for treatment of leg injuries. Harborview says the worker was in serious condition late Friday.
Larry Wilson of Boeing Commercial Airplanes says in a statement that Boeing will investigate and "will implement the necessary changes to avoid a future reoccurrence." Beyond that, Wilson provided no details on the worker or the accident.
