Newly released 911 tapes reveal terror in Marysville-Pilchuck cafeteria shooting

Newly released 911 recordings capture the terror of the Marysville-Pilchuck High School shooting as the teacher credited with intervening frantically calls for help.

“We have the shooter, we have many injured, Marysville-Pilchuck High School, we need emergency help right away,” teacher Megan Silberberger is heard on one of the recordings released by Snohomish County officials Wednesday afternoon.

Officials have said Marysville-Pilchuck High School teacher Megan Silberberger ran toward Jaylen Fryberg after he opened fire in the school’s cafeteria. She did not have any physical contact with the shooter.

Fryberg shot four students before killing himself.

“I am in the cafeteria, I have the shooter, one shooter, blood is everywhere, I do not see the gun,” she tells the dispatcher.

Silberberger goes on to tell the dispatcher she “tried to stop him (Fryberg) before he shot himself.” And she says she didn’t know the student.

Silberberger has not spoken publicly since the shooting. In a statement following the shooting released through the Washington Education Association, she said she reacted just as any of her colleagues would have.

“I reacted exactly like all my colleagues would in this type of event,” she said. “I am a schoolteacher and like all teachers, I am committed to the safety and well-being of my students. My thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by this incident.”

She also asked for privacy and said she would not be issuing further comments.
