Candidate says "rape thing" not cause for abortion

Associated Press

OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) - A Washington state congressional candidate says abortion should not be legal, even when it involves "the rape thing."

A liberal advocacy group provided audio to The Associated Press on Wednesday in which Republican hopeful John Koster was explaining his views on abortion at a Sunday fundraiser. Koster says he does not oppose abortion when the life of the mother is in danger but then explains he would oppose it when it involves rape or incest.

Koster twice uses the phrase "the rape thing" when describing his views on abortion, saying it doesn't make the situation better by "putting more violence into a woman's body."

Koster's campaign manager Larry Stickney says Koster has been a huge proponent of dealing strongly with sex offenders. He says the implication that Koster is cavalier about the issue is preposterous.

Koster is locked in one of the nation's most competitive congressional races against Democrat Suzan DelBene.

    The Rapeublicans" do it again!
Man, these right wing Christian wackos don't know when to shuttup! Don't they understand, they need to stay under the radar to win?

And really? Koster thinks he knows better than the actual rape victim if abortion is "putting more violence into a woman's body?" I'd like to see some rape victims wear t-shirts to a Koster rally saying, "It's a rape thing. YOU wouldn't understand."

Hey Koster, you want to know what violence is? Using the power of big guvmint to FORCE women to look upon the product of a disgusting, horrific act, only to be reminded every time of how it was produced.

So, is he actually proposing to jail rape victims for having an abortion?. If you follow his "logic," it sure seems that way.
