Man in custody after Spokane Valley shooting

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. (AP) - A man is in custody after a shooting in Spokane Valley that didn't injure anyone.

The Spokane County Sheriff's Office says a man called deputies at about 7 a.m. Tuesday to report that his car broke down outside a building, and that someone had fired a shot at him.

Deputies learned that the same address _ a former radiator business, according to The Spokesman-Review _ was being investigated by a federal task force that targets gang activity.

The sheriff's office SWAT team, bomb unit and hostage negotiators obtained a warrant and searched the building.

Thirty-six-year-old Shawn Mertes was arrested for investigation of aiming or discharging a firearm.

No further information about the task force investigation was immediately released.

    Of course they did
There aren't that many Spokane Sheriffs that haven't shot someone yet, they're just trying to make sure everyone gets a turn.
