Some irked Wash. governor's ball moved to Lacey

OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) - Next year's Governor's Inaugural Ball will be held in Lacey, and some people are not happy about that.

The Tacoma News Tribune reports ( http://bit.ly/Xk0yST) that Olympia Democrat Rep. Sam Hunt and Secretary of State Sam Reed have urged the organizing committee to change its mind. The ball is set to be held at St. Martin's University instead of the state Capitol, its traditional home.

Lisa Cosmillo, a spokeswoman for the committee organizing the ball, says there is extra indoor space and greater accessibility at St. Martin's Marcus Pavilion and Worthington Center and that the Capitol campus presented problems with parking and stairs and required the use of heated tents.

She also says there are security worries about gate-crashers and that it's costly to follow state-government rules for events.

Hunted predicts many legislators will skip the ball because of the venue change.

Why do we even have a "ball"?
Our state is broke thanks to the Dims. Yet we have to pay for their party so they can kiss each other's arses and tell each other how great they are. Obviously, nothing has changed...spend...spend...spend...
