Despite slump, Dolphins to get Thanksgiving off

DAVIE, Fla. (AP) - A day off for an NFL team 72 hours before kickoff is rare, especially when that team has lost three games in a row. But Miami Dolphins coach Joe Philbin is giving his players Thanksgiving off.

The team will practice daily through Wednesday, then reconvene Friday to finish preparations for Sunday's game against Seattle. Philbin says the unusual break for the holiday is possible because the Dolphins haven't played since Thursday.

Philbin says family is very important to him, and "It should be important to our players."
