Snohomish County motorcycle deputy crashes on I-5

ARLINGTON, Wash. (AP) - The Snohomish County sheriff's office says a deputy suffered only minor injuries when his motorcycle crashed on Interstate 5 near Arlington.

Witnesses told the Washington State Patrol the deputy was merging into southbound traffic about 8:15 a.m. Wednesday when he lost control on wet pavement and the cycle flipped end over end.

The deputy was conscious when he was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. He's a five-year veteran of the sheriff's office.

The Daily Herald reports ( http://is.gd/nHYLEK) the accident caused a traffic backup that was six miles long two hours after the accident.
