SWAT team arrests Olympia man with assault rifle

OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) - The Thurston County SWAT team was called to an Olympia apartment Friday night after a man armed with loaded assault rifle refused to cooperate with police issuing a warrant for his arrest.
The News Tribune reports ( http://is.gd/PPYoZa) Olympia police officers were attempting to arrest the 35-year-old man living just before 8 p.m.
After "repeated requests," the man, armed with a SKS assault rifle, refused to leave the apartment.
The SWAT team was called, the man was taken into custody after several hours.
The man was taken to Providence St. Peter Hospital after the arrest for a medical evaluation before being booked in Thurston County Jail.
The sheriff's office says he was accused of fourth-degree domestic violence and felony harassment, and also had outstanding warrants.
