2 Bellevue WA officers disciplined for rudeness

BELLEVUE, Wash. (AP) - Two Bellevue, Wash., police officers have been disciplined for their off-duty conduct at a Sept. 16 Seattle Seahawks game.

Bellevue Police Chief Linda Pillo says the officers used profanity after a Seattle police officer asked a female companion of theirs to pick up an item of litter. A short time later, stadium security asked the officers to leave after a ticket holder complained about their offensive language.

The chief said Tuesday that Corporal Dion Robertson has been demoted to officer and lost his supervisory responsibilities on the bomb squad. Officer Andy Hanke was suspended without pay for 30 days and removed from the bomb squad. Both were found to have violated policies on personal conduct, courtesy and ethics. Both officers issued apologies.

The chief also found that Hanke drove while intoxicated, violating an "obedience to laws" policy. She says there was no evidence of his level of intoxication, so no criminal prosecution was possible.

A female detective was cleared of all allegations.

    Why No Assessments?
Both officers were drinking. Why were they not required to get chemical dependency assessments and undergo treatment if that was the conclusion of the assessment? With all the conduct code they have to follow, for them to do all this stuff at of all places a public sports facility, in front of citizens and children, they should be doing treatment and be required to undergo constant UAs. They should be banned from the Clink.
