Senator Patty Murray jokes about Speaker Boehner's 'Plan B'

WASHINGTON (AP) - A Democratic senator joked Thursday that with House Speaker John Boehner embracing "Plan B," women's issues are progressing in Congress.

Washington Democrat Patty Murray told reporters that she "got really excited" when she heard Boehner talking about Plan B.

But then, she kidded, she learned it didn't signify progress for women after all.

Boehner had a backup plan for his fight over the "fiscal cliff" with President Barack Obama and dubbed it Plan B. House GOP leaders abruptly canceled a vote on the measure Thursday night after they failed to round up enough votes for it to pass.

The "fiscal cliff" refers to huge tax increases and spending cuts that take effect in early January unless lawmakers can head them off.

Plan B is also the name of a contraceptive pill that some conservatives oppose because it can be used after unprotected intercourse.

    Murray is a joke!
Her D-party has for 3 years 7 month and 22 days without a budget! Someone should remind her that she represents both sexes. She has a spending problem. But, hey Washington voters deserve her they voted for this.

Murray's already put forth her solution. She was co-chair of the hear-no-evil, see-no-evil, speak-no-evil group that came up with the Fiscal Cliff arrangement.

The Republican Party is why we don't have a budget
The Republican Party is steering this country off of the Fiscal Cliff because they don't give a flying Fack about this country they only care about their party and the rich folks that fund their campaigns... Obama compromised and said he'd move that number up to 400k, Republicans haven't budged at all they have pathetically sat back and said they were compromising while not moving at all. America has spoken, the polls show that Americans want the tax rates to go up for top earners in America, over 55% agree President Obama's plan is the way to go but Republicans... coming off a butt whipping in the elections they still refuse to listen to the American people, If they do not compromise legitimately, the American people will make the Republican party an IRRELEVENT PARTY in American politics, say goodbye goons It's been too long coming.

    Oh really, Cbrew?
When was the last time the democratic Senate passed a budget?

What has happened every time Obama provided a budget proposal?

If even the democrats in Congress give a resounding "no" to Obama's budgets, how could any intelligent person think his plan "is the way to go"?

Only brainwashed sheep could possibly think that.

    Nice job Senator
You are an embarrassment as a Senator. You're legislative success in budgeting is this Fiscal Cliff. You don't support veterans and defense when you're "fallback" position to fixing budget and finance issue is across the board cuts to Defense and raising taxes on 100% of the American people. You'll go down as the architect of the largest tax increase this country has ever seen (which for a lib is a good thing, I guess). The economy isn't George Bush's. It's yours and the anointed one's. Do something that's completely foreign for you libs...take personal responsibility for what you do...or don't do.

Amazing logic. The lack of a budget is the fault of a congress in complete control of the democrat party for the first two years of the obama admin. Just keep sucking on the government teet full of kool ade. You must realize when this thing all comes down around our ankles it won't just be conservatives who will lose - you and your grandkids will lose too. Demand your 'representatives' to reduce spending. It might make you personally feel good to soak 'the rich' but it will solve nothing. We can not go on borrowing 46 cents of every dollar we spend and your class warfare tax will only fund operation of your bloated government for eleven days. Get real...

    Leadership...Accountability
Let's try something new libocrats. Why don't we start holding the man in charge responsible for something, anything? Being the leader of the free world is more than just a popularity contest. But what can we expect from a man manufactured by Hollywood; he was never qualified in the first place. Talk, talk, orate, talk as the feeble minded follow the pied piper. We get it, he's the cool kid, the home coming queen, hangs with Jayzee. How about getting to work in the second term and not point the finger on just one issue? Just one! And for all the phony rants going around here, you would think that women didn't have the right to vote. We're talking about a free pill...really? This is the progress that Catty Murray is talking about? Women have essentially been reduced to a political orifice by the Democratic party. I suggest you libs stop listening to the noises that come out of the nasty hole on her face and start pressing your state government to balance it's budget. Should be an easy task seeing that you have the most evolved people in the country.

Let's try something new Conservcans. Boner has to submit his legislation first before the man in charge can sign/veto it. Start with Boner...have him introduce legislation that: A) he won't filibuster his own legislation ...and B)that he can get pass his own right wing crazies. Then let "The man in charge responsible for something"...do his job.
