More Seattle-Everett passenger train cancelationsDecember 28, 2012 @ 7:42 pm
SEATTLE (AP) - A Burlington Northern Santa Fe spokesman says passenger train service between Seattle and Everett will be canceled until at least next Wednesday as continuing rain has led to mudslides.
Spokesman Gus Melonas says the shutdown of the train line affects Amtrak and Sounder services. The passenger line has been closed since December 17. A line used by freight trains continues to be used. Earlier this week, BNSF has said they hoped to open the passenger line by Monday.
Melonas says another 40-foot long and three-foot deep slide hit the passenger line on Wednesday. He says rail crews continue cleanup of debris that has hit the train line.
