1 dead, 1 wounded in separate Spokane shootings

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) - Spokane police are investigating two separate shootings that left one man dead and a woman wounded.

Police spokeswoman Monique Cotton said the Friday night shootings happened hours apart and don't appear to be related.

In the first, a woman who suffered gunshot wounds to the chest was dropped off at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane at about 8:30 p.m. Police say she was likely shot in the parking lot of a fast-food restaurant. She's expected to survive.

At about 10 p.m., police responded to a 9-1-1 call at a home and found a deceased man with a gunshot wound. Cotton says the medical examiner's office will release his identity and cause of death.

Police have not released information on suspects in the two cases.
