Reward for help in catching shore birds killer

LONG BEACH, Wash. (AP) - PETA is offering $5,000 for help in catching whoever drove into a flock of shore birds on the beach in southwest Washington and killed 92 of them.

KING-TV ( http://is.gd/qJytgi) reports the dead Sandpiper-type shorebirds called "Dunlin" were found Thursday north of the Cranberry beach approach on Long Beach.

Wildlife Center of the North Coast said the trauma the birds suffered is consistent with a collision with a motor vehicle.

Seabirds and shorebirds are protected under state law. It is illegal to harm or kill them.

Fish and Wildlife Police say a vehicle has to be travelling considerably faster than the posted 25 mph speed in order to hit these types of birds. Dunlins are able to reach speeds of 110 mph.

    This is a huge atrocity and I hope they catch the idiot, or idiots, responsible. It's sociopaths like these bird killers that also harm humans with the same hartless attitude. PETA is a group for the protection of animals and I agree they go overboard in their endeavors on occasion. But, imanegro, your statement is just moronic at best. I'm quite sure if 92 people were run down and killed on a beach there would be plenty of outcries for the head, or heads, of the ones responsible.

    Far to many resources are expended protecting animals. Animals are stupid and do nothing more than eat and crap, pets included. They do serve many good purposes such as companionship, along with service animals, so they have their place. Let's keep them there. Speaking of moronic, my statement isn't- it is my opinion based on personal values. Here is your statement: "... if 92 people were run down and killed..." The context of this statement equats the value of people with the value of animals. Now, THAT is moronic.

    I see how how you chose not to quote my full sentence in a sad attempt to prove your point. Your statement about the value of animals is sociopathic on its face. It's idiots like you that pulled this horrific stunt. Did you kill animals for kicks as a kid? Do you do so now? But you're far too stupid to learn the lessons animals teach us. It's so basic for them. Eat what you need to eat. Preserve life as if it were gold. Love unconditionally.
