Eyman initiative advances to Legislature

OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) - Initiative activist Tim Eyman's latest measure has advanced to the Legislature.

The secretary of state's office says Initiative 517 was certified Wednesday to have more than enough signatures.

The initiative would set penalties for harassment of signature gatherers and signers and allow more time for signatures to be collected. It also would require that voters be allowed to vote on any initiative that qualifies for the ballot, even if a lawsuit has been filed against the measure.

The Legislature now has three choices with the initiative: pass it, send it to a public vote in November or send it to a public vote with an alternative.

You can thank the DEMOCRATS who've run this state for over 30 years for ignoring the will of the people....

The misdemeanor criminal charges for interference and harassment
of petition signature gathherers is long overdue. Fines and jail time are in order for voter intimidation.

want to see more ridiculous initiives financed by greedy East side developers?
then vote yes for the latest Eyman farce.

I predict this one goes down, or in typical Eyman fashion, is ruled unconstitutional

when are people like you going to realize that Eyeman is nothing more than a Symptom to a larger disease. Cure that and Eyeman goes away

However, Ive not seen the Legislature or voters in this state want a cure.

I'd agree that 20 years ago, Eyman was a champion of the people
Now he is a shill for whoever pays him to represent them. Big Oil and Kemper Freeman being the latest to purchase Eymans services for their own greedy interests.

I trust our voters will send the puppets pulling Eymans strings away in defeat again.
