Yakima gang member found with AK-47, arrested

YAKIMA, Wash. (AP) - A 23-year-old Yakima gang member who has a previous conviction for a shooting has been found with an AK-47 and arrested.

The Yakima Herald-Republic reports that Rigoberto E. Gonzalez _ known as "Crazy Thug" within his La Raza Norteno gang _ was arrested Thursday after a traffic stop. Besides the AK-47, police officers found a 30-round magazine in his car. It was the third arrest this year for Gonzalez, which includes two for firearms possession. He's being held on $200,000 bail.

Gonzalez was sentenced to more than six years in prison in 2005 after he opened fire near the entrance of a Wal-Mart. State corrections records show he was released in August 2011, and by November he was linked to a gang-related shooting by Yakima police.

He's been arrested three times this year?
What, once a week? If true, surely his bail on the previous arrests should have been revoked, and he should be sitting in jail instead of wandering around with an AK-47. But it would be too obvious to try to deal with the problem of gun violence by locking up career gun criminals like this one. Much more fun to make it impossible for law-abiding gun-owners like me to buy replacement magazines for my pistol because they hold 17 rounds.

    2nd Amendment Rights
The "gentleman" who was arrested had previously forfeited his 2nd Amendment rights under Federal Law. If convicted of a felony, or a misdemeanor that carries a jail sentence longer than one year, or if you have a misdemeanor charge of stalking or threatening an intimate partner, or a charge of domestic violence against an intimate partner, you are forbidden to own a gun. This guy already has two strikes against him in the form of two prior convictions. If he lived in my state, Florida, he would being going to jail for a minimum of 25 years - no parolee no early out - you do the crime, you do the time!

    OK, CH,
Stand up for bigotry, ignorance and lies. The NRA's position (and I speak as a member) is that people like this guy should have been rotting in jail. He forfeited his right to keep and bear arms along with his right to vote (assuming he had that), when he was convicted of shooting up a Walmart.

Dear CH you know perfectly well if you were the least knowledgable about gun laws that the NRA would insist that this scum be locked away. The NRA's position is that there are plenty of gun laws and we need to enforce them and not play catch and release. I am sure that this young man is one of the nice young Hispanics that our current traitor in chief and the Democratic party want to give amnesy to so that the Hispanics will vote for them.

    Maybe we need new laws
Since convicted felons can't legally be in possession of a firearm you'll be arrested if caught with one. If you're caught with a firearm for a second time, you'll be arrested again. If you're caught with a firearm for a third time you'll... I'm glad these laws are working. We need to pass some new ones to reinforce that we mean business.

    Prisons an Jails:
You cannot rehabilatate a killer. There is no comming back from that. The solution is to take the killer out back of the court house. One bullet, game over for the perp.
