Fired superintendent sues Richland school board

RICHLAND, Wash. (AP) - Fired Richland Schools Superintendent Jim Busey is suing the school board for more than $1 million.
Among other things, the lawsuit filed Monday in federal court says that by firing Busey over an affair with another district employee the board discriminated against him on the basis of his marital status.
School Board Chairman Rick Jansons told the Tri-City Herald ( http://bit.ly/Xmhg0Q) the lawsuit is without merit. He says the board is concentrating on hiring a new superintendent.
Busey was fired in January for violating a morals clause in his contract and disrupting the school where the employee worked.
The lawsuit says Busey's relationship was consensual and he was not the woman's direct supervisor.
