Ex-King County sheriff now Bremerton police chief

BREMERTON, Wash. (AP) - Former King County Sheriff Steve Strachan (stran) is taking over Monday as the new police chief in Bremerton.

He was named to replace Craig Rogers, who retired.

The Kitsap Sun reports ( http://bit.ly/12mHiRD) Strachan can be expected to implement a style of policing he implemented when he was Kent police chief for five years, starting in 2006. It's called "intelligence led policing" and it uses crime data to target areas for public safety efforts.

Strachan headed the King County sheriff's office until he lost an election in November.
