16-year-old charged in crashJanuary 16, 2014 @ 1:06 pm
SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) - A 16-year-old Spokane boy has been charged with two counts of vehicular homicide in juvenile court, after an accident that killed two girls on Oct. 5.
Preston Maher was charged in the case that killed fellow University High School students 15-year-old Josie Freier and 16-year-old McKenzie Mott.
Maher was identified as the driver of the car that left the roadway along a hilly stretch of road the night of Oct. 5. Investigators say the vehicle swerved before striking a curb at near highway speeds.
Maher faces up to one year per count, which would be served in a juvenile facility.
