Arrest in Wash. bank robbery, abduction

EVERETT, Wash. (AP) - Police in Everett, Wash., say there's been an arrest in the case of a bank robber who abducted a college student at gunpoint and forced her to drive him to several locations including the bank.

Police spokesman Aaron Snell said detectives developed probable cause to arrest a 20-year-old man and sent out a description of a car they thought he might be driving. Tacoma police located the car Thursday and arrested Bereket M. Piatt for investigation in the Jan. 23 robbery of a Wells Fargo Bank branch in Everett and the associated abduction.

Police say the robber threatened to kill the student if she didn't wait for him and said he could find her because he knew her license number.

After the bank robbery the man had the woman drop him off. She later reported the crimes.
