Body found of man charged with sex crimes

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) - A Gonzaga University maintenance worker facing charges of rape and child molestation has been found dead in his car north of Spokane.

The Stevens County Coroner's office says 48-year-old Timothy D. Woodard committed suicide. Autopsy results released Thursday indicate carbon monoxide is the cause of death.

Woodard failed to appear before Superior Court Judge James Triplet on Tuesday, prompting a warrant for his arrest. He faced seven felony counts for sex crimes that occurred 15 years ago, including first-degree rape and first-degree child molestation.

The alleged victim was 10 years old at the time.
