Oregon woman arrested in fatal Washington crash

LONGVIEW, Wash. (AP) - A Portland, Ore., woman arrested in a wrong-way crash in Longview, Wash., that killed one man and injured seven other people has posted bail after a brief court hearing Monday.

The Daily News reports that court records say 32-year-old Nichole Difuria McCaslin told police she'd had two beers about three hours before the Friday night crash.

McCaslin was arrested for investigation of vehicular homicide and two counts of vehicular assault. Under terms of her $75,000 bail, she was allowed to return to her Portland home.

Her lawyer, Adam Dean, told the judge she has two small children she cares for in Portland. Dean had no comment after the court hearing.

Killed in the crash was 47-year-old Brett Dawdy of Longview, who was driving his wife, daughter and a friend back from a ski trip. Police reports say his wife suffered a broken back and their 14-year-old daughter suffered a broken pelvis.
