Yakima County gives up interest in airport to city

YAKIMA, Wash. (AP) - Yakima County commissioners voted Tuesday to give up the county's half-interest in the Yakima Air Terminal and turn the whole operation over to the city of Yakima.

The Yakima Herald-Republic reports ( http://bit.ly/YWXPLI) the transfer ends 30 years of joint ownership.

Commissioners said single ownership is in the best interest of operating and developing the 825-acre airport. One commissioner called it a no-fault divorce.
