Snohomish County sheriff seeking executive's job

EVERETT, Wash. (AP) - Snohomish County Sheriff John Lovick said Monday he's seeking appointment to the job of county executive.
County Executive Aaron Reardon announced last Thursday he was resigning from his third term at the end of May because his family has suffered enough from controversies surrounding his office. Reardon has been accused of spending county money on a mistress, misusing campaign funds and of being behind public records requests to dig up dirt on opponents.
Lovick has been sheriff for five years and served 31 years in the Washington State Patrol. He also has served in the state Legislature.
