Sheriff: human remains found in SW Wash.

SKAMOKAWA, Wash. (AP) - The Wahkiakum (Wah-KIA-come) County sheriff says deputies are investigating after human skeletal remains were found near the Columbia River in southwest Washington.

The sheriff's office says a resident reported the remains Thursday. They were found in a remote wooded area.

The skeleton has been turned over to the county coroner's office.
